The programme 'Viajeros Cuatro' on the generalist television channel Cuatro will dedicate the third episode of its fourth season to the province of Granada tomorrow, Friday, at 22.45 hours. A production team recorded, from 3 to 9 May, images from multiple locations in the capital, Monachil, the Alpujarra and the Costa Tropical to make up a chapter that will show the beauty of the destination and the activities that can be carried out there, and which is expected to be very entertaining, as it has counted on the collaboration, among other famous people, of the tenor José Manuel Zapata, the singer Diana Navarro, the dancer Iván Vargas, the dubbing actor and comedian Alfredo Díaz, the actress and comedian Martita de Graná and the 'influencer' Teresa Bass. The recording had the logistical support of the Patronato Provincial de Turismo de Granada and Turismo Andaluz.
The provincial deputy for Tourism, Enrique Medina, is confident that the broadcast of this programme "will be an extraordinary help for the promotion of Granada and its counties, just when the summer season begins and we are regaining confidence and the desire to travel thanks to the good progress of the vaccination". Medina hopes that the programme will attract many tourists to the province and recalled that 'Viajeros Cuatro' is broadcast in prime time, with a successful 'share' in its last season of almost 6.10% and an average of approximately 870,000 viewers per episode.
With the help of reporters Mónica Romero and Javier Blanco, 'Viajeros Cuatro' will show the most typical places in Granada and its province, but also lesser-known corners that have a special meaning for the collaborators. Thus, with Diana Navarro, they will visit the Alhambra and the city centre, Calderería street and its tea shops and the Casa Museo Federico García Lorca in Huerta de San Vicente. He will take advantage of the artistic vein and the duende of Iván Vargas to show the Sacromonte neighbourhood, one of the cradles of flamenco, with its caves and its Abbey, the gypsy zambras and the renowned omelette of the Casa Juanillo restaurant. And actor Alfredo Díaz, famous for his dubbing of coronavirus-themed films, will show off the more active Granada, with a route along the Los Cahorros trail and a 'running' through the Sabika forest and the Silla del Moro, before relaxing in some Arabic baths. Martita de Graná will provide the wackiest counterpoint from her own home and with tapas in various bars in the city, which she has contributed so much to spreading through social networks.
In the province, José Manuel Zapata will invite Spaniards to discover the Alpujarra of Granada and its village, Bérchules, to eat an Alpujarran dish with all its trimmings and to make a splash by touring Mecina Bombarón, Cádiar and the magical Soportújar. Finally, with Teresa Bass the programme will travel to the Costa Tropical to climb Salobreña Castle, eat dried octopus in Motril with a shot of Montero rum and dive the seabed at Calahonda.
The Provincial Tourist Board of the Provincial Council of Granada, together with Turismo Andaluz, has collaborated with Cuatro and helped in the tasks of locating and organising the filming of the programme, as well as in the accommodation and maintenance of the filming team. "From the very first moment we considered this cooperation to be very convenient," said Medina, "especially because press trips are one of the most profitable tourism marketing tools, as they usually generate a measurable and perceptible return in the medium term with a minimum investment. The deputy explained that in agreement with Turismo Andaluz and Turespaña, "the Tourist Board receives and organises more than fifty familiarisation trips every year for travel agencies and tour operators, the media and blogs. In these trips, the sum of institutional contributions, as well as those of local entrepreneurs, allows us to spread the costs and obtain magnificent results and impact".
'Viajeros Cuatro' has been characterised since its creation, with the initial name of 'Callejeros Viajeros', for travelling around countries all over the world to show, hand in hand with their inhabitants, the places through their culture, traditions and landscapes. Due to the mobility limitations caused by the epidemic, since the third season the programme has focused on travelling around Spain and has included in its title the nickname 'Spain without going any further'. The current season, the fourth, will consist of eight episodes, with the one dedicated to Granada being the third. Its first two broadcasts focused on Mallorca and the islands of La Palma and El Hierro.
The programme, which will be broadcast tomorrow night, will showcase the attractions, traditions, landscapes, gastronomy, entertainment and culture that the province of Granada has to offer. The aim is to give its wide audience ideas of attractive national destinations for this summer. Each episode lasts 60 minutes and is broadcast live on Cuatro and a la carte on the Mediaset platform.
